Reciprocity Overview

Reciprocity Overview

One of the most popular features that Comsend offers is Reciprocity which accounts for an average of more than 25% of income generated by communities.

Reciprocity features can be found in your Campaign settings in the Pricing and Settings tab. You'll need to click on the Advanced Pricing Settings section to expand it as seen below.

What is the Reciprocity option?

By enabling Reciprocity and when you opt-in to it as a member, the Comsend system will automatically add selections of other members who sent to you in the event that you failed to select them yourself. Here's an example:

Susan and Joe Smith selected the following families:
  1. Mary and John Adams
  2. Bob and Abby Bloomberg
  3. Diane and Jeff Cone
And they also opted in to Reciprocity.

Then Corine and Mark Peters selected Susan and Joe Smith.

Since Reciprocity was turned on, Comsend will automatically add a selection (and an optional greeting) from Susan and Joe Smith to Corine and Mark Peters.

Reciprocity Options
  1. Separate pricing: Reciprocity selections can be priced at a separate fee from your regular selections. We often recommend that you price these slightly higher.
  1. Flat Fee: You can choose to set a flat fee for enabling Reciprocity instead of the above per selection fee. If you do, be sure to enforce a minimum number of selections.
    1. With the Flat Fee option the admin can also choose to suppress the display of number of resulted reciprocity greetings from the members.
  1. Enforcing a minimum number of selections: Whether or not you set a flat fee for reciprocity, you can enforce a minimum number of selections before allowing the members to choose the Reciprocity feature.
  2. Exclude reciprocity for members who select all: The triggering of reciprocity entries can be precluded for members who select all. Often customers choose this option since some members don’t want to reciprocate with others who send to all.
  3. Allow members to edit reciprocity after the campaign end: This feature will allow you to invite your members to edit (remove only) the results of reciprocity selections after the campaign end date.
  4. Auto-Charge Reciprocity - currently available for Authorize.NET and Converge only:  An option for admins to enable an end of campaign charge of member balances that are due at the click of a button (vs. inviting them to enter again and pay their balances). See here how to charge at the end of the campaign.

Reciprocity Timing
It's important to note that Reciprocity selections are finalized only after the Campaign End Date and throughout the campaign members do not see who was added as a result of Reciprocity. The reason is that a member can login and add selections a number of times, so only after the End Date can the system determine what Reciprocity entries to add.
